The Pros and Cons of Circumcision

What is circumcision?

Why do people oppose circumcision?
Many doctors and researchers have started to stop routine, non-therapeutic circumcision. The penis foreskin is a normal, healthy part of the body that plays an important role during sexuality. This routine procedure was originally reported to be a way to stop masturbation in late 19th century and early 20th century. The foreskin is a normal part that can be removed if there is no medical reason. It also takes away the baby’s right to body autonomy as they are not yet old enough to understand the pros and cons of the procedure. Many people believe that everyone has the right to make their own decisions about their bodies and that removing a healthy part of a baby’s body without their permission violates this right. If the baby chose to have it done later in their lives, they could still be able to do it.
